Up until now, submission of new applications has been via a web form, which lands in a private email box waiting for me to process. This doesn’t scale very well, which is why there is such a backlog. Since there are people waiting to help out, who can’t get at the queue, my new plan is to move it here.

There will be a topic for each application. Feel free to add any that are missing, and of course to create the necessary metadata and submit gitorious merge requests for ones you want to include.

Once apps from here are included, we can either delete the topics, move them elsewhere, or tag them.

It’s maybe not immediately obvious, but we have the facility to allow donations to apps included in the repository. Where we have the relevant information, which is a link, it’s included on the browse page for that app on the web site (e.g. http://f-droid.org/repository/browse/?fdid=org.mustard.android) and also via the menu in the f-droid client itself.

We don’t have as many of these links as we should, so if you know of any, or can find them, please post them in the corresponding thread here, or in the Submissions Completed forum.

Note that for it to make sense, it really needs to be a link to a specific donate page. If it just goes to a generic page with a donate button in a hidden corner, that isn’t going to make much sense in the context we use it. (In fact, for the example above, we asked Macno, the developer of Mustard, to create the page specifically).

One other thing to avoid – some apps have a paypal (or similar) donate button on their web site. Don’t use the link behind this button, unless the application’s developer has explicitly agreed and knows we’re doing it – the reason being that the might change it (e.g. to a different account) and we wouldn’t know, and they wouldn’t know we needed to know.

Yep, a tracker would offer better functionality, but with forum we’ll get better visibililty, thanks for starting this!

Don’t forget to use the search tab to see if there is already a thread!. If a topic exists already for the application, your topic will get merged into the original and the permalink to your own topic will not work.

Do consult with the Inclusion Policy and FAQs at http://f-droid.org/wiki/ and add plenty of information regarding the licence; website & issue tracker; category; description; how to donate; usage; related apps; where apks are published; where the jars originate from if they haven’t been documented; even a Build Version line if you can follow the manual. If you see a problem with our build or descriptions, post here; questions about whether an app is licensed correctly, or about build problems should be addressed to their issue tracker if possible (it is often located alongside the source code), and the link to it posted here.
