Hi there,
I recently got my first smartphone and as I wanted one that would be based on free software as much as possible, it’s quite naturally running Android. I’m still in the process of getting to know it and I just wanted to say thank you for your work. Thanks to F-Droid, I haven’t even subscribed to the Market (so I guess my phone doesn’t count as an Android activation).
In fact as soon as I got my hands on the device I started looking for a file manager and landed here, installed fdroid.apk and then Ghost Commander (which is truly a gem) and since then I’m hammering your repo. So, thank you!
Also, what maybe lacks on the site is an explanation about contributing for newcomers who are not coders. Would translations make sense? Is the application queue for packagers only or is it OK to suggest applications we’d like to see on F-Droid there? Are such suggestions OK or are you already overwhelmed by the apps that must be packaged? (http://f-droid.org/repository/submit which is linked from returns a good old 404) Is there anything useful that could be done just with a keyboard and a screen?
Well, this message is already too long. So thanks again — and I’m going to return to play with the stuff I just downloaded.
Welcome!
There is a thread about the new work-flow for adding applications to the repo.

And there is another one about how you could use your keyboard and screen.

The section about submitting needs to get updated. Thank you for the hint.
all the best

Apparently there’s not much I can do apart, maybe, writing reviews for applications. Also, thanks for pointing the thread to submit new application suggestions.
Finally, as I forgot in my previous message to paste the link from which http://f-droid.org/repository/submit was linked to, here it is: http://f-droid.org/repository/ (under “Submitting”)
