MIUI’s opening the source on a lot of their applications. This is for their notepad app.
Name: MIUI Notes
License: Apache 2
Source Code: https://github.com/MiCode/Notes
Issue Tracker: https://github.com/MiCode/Notes/issuesFebruary 24, 2012 at 2:28 am #1494Add to my staging repo: http://f-droid.org/forums/topic/rfc-overlay-repos/
But it’s not clear when this can pushed mainline: it’s mimSdk=14, so I don’t have ways to test it, and they don’t really seem to have had a real release yet. So, if we push random tip version with bugs, we won’t be able to fix it they make a release, because we can’t bump vercode on our own so far. So, please help testing it from staging repo.
June 6, 2012 at 3:46 pm #2094There is a fork of it here https://github.com/ebraminio/miuinotes , basically just a translation.
June 21, 2012 at 9:42 am #2338I’ve tested it and its working perfectly on nexus s cm9. You get the common problem of alarms going off when the time gets reset after a reboot though.
June 21, 2012 at 10:58 am #2344I mean to say I’ve test pfalcons version. That fork I posted about isn’t worth bothering with.
June 21, 2012 at 6:04 pm #2361I tried the version from staging too. Looks good, except that there are some chinese(?) symbols on the bottom of the screen. Export doesn’t work for me. I get “please check SD card”. I didn’t test sync because that would need a google account.
CM9-alpha4 (ICS 4.0.4) on i9001June 22, 2012 at 9:26 am #2369The Chinese symbols are not a problem because the there is a “+” next to them , indicating a new note. Yes I get the same problem with the export. I suppose we would just leave the sync in there even if it is a bit misleading. The search function isn’t working for me either, now that I pay attention.
January 2, 2013 at 12:56 pm #5624It looks like MIUI will only distribute the application within their rom. Someone started publishing binaries on XDA which we could base our version on and maybe link to the thread as bugtracker?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1946262I’ve tried the version and it works well including search and export. I didn’t try sync.
January 3, 2013 at 2:47 pm #5641Somebody will have to fork from original repo and add language resources from second post on XDa thread. I’m surprised if it will correspond to a working apk though.
March 15, 2013 at 10:18 pm #6319pfalcon has requested this, but there is no sync, export or search. The widgets are nice, so I say we accept it.
March 16, 2013 at 3:05 pm #6331Yes, pull requst is at https://gitorious.org/f-droid/fdroiddata/merge_requests/126 , it has other questions, I’ll answer here then:
The PR request above is basicly my flushing any useful bits from my staging repo. I did recipe long ago, but the app sets minimum API level pretty high, and I couldn’t test it previously. Now I did, and saw a simple note-taking app with pretty fancy UI. It reminds me of a similar vendor app which comes with Galaxy S2 – I use it from time to time to jot on the run simple things and then delete them later, and never needed export, sync, or even search funcs there.
After daithib8‘s comments, I looked in more details: extra functions are accessible via menu button. Search doesn’t work for me – full list of notes is shown after the search still. Sync says it synced stuff, but nother in Google Tasks appear. Export says “No SD card” for me (indeed, I don’t have one inserted). Putting note as widget on home screen works.
Summing up, it’s nice-looking simple note-taking app, part of MIUI suite, of which F-Droid already has few apps. But Notes app has few functions which are advertized, but don’t work, and that may be confusing. So, we may add notes about those issues to description (still a bit confusing), or still leave it out fornow.
March 16, 2013 at 3:16 pm #6332I can’t get the menu here in cm10.1. hardware search button does work but if used within a note, it crashes the app. I agree it is stylish and the widgets are prettier than handy notes.
Edit: by using long press to delete multiple notes the menu button appeared on a bar at bottom, but it’s whitea and ugly
March 16, 2013 at 3:53 pm #6335Well, I couln’t get menu on hdmi stick – the app goes fullscreen and hides virtual button bar. On a device with hardware menu button, it’s accessible.
