Client 0.28 Released

The latest release of the FDroid Repository Client, version 0.28, is now available. You can get it from the repository page or, if you already have an earlier version installed, just update.

The main changes in this release are:

  • New Categories within the client for What’s New (apps added in the last 14 days) and Recent Updates (apps updated in the last 14 days).
  • Better theming and visuals on post-Gingerbread Android versions, tablets, etc.
  • New clean-shaven icon.
  • Lots of translation updates and new languages.

As usual, if you have problems or feature requests, talk to the issue tracker, join us in the Forum or visit #fdroid on FreeNode.

    Looks great! Thanks.

Concerning the new pseudo-categories, I was wondering whether it would be better to modify their sorting so as to give more visibility to these important categories. Have:
    What’s New
    Recent Updates
    Separator [if possible]
    All [default]
    Games
    [..]

A potential issue is that now I see two different categories: Game and Games. Is this expected?

Lastly, now that we have pseudo-categories, what is your opinion on implementing a GApps Replacements category (as discussed in Issue #69)?

The categories are auto generated. What happened is somebody put Game instead of Games by mistake in the metadata text file that describes the app. All other categories are singular so that may have inspired it. It is not uncommon for there to be typos in the metadata that are only revealed by a quick look at the repo stats or app description. If there are critical errors in the build line, fdroid can detect them.
