@zillode: “There was a problem parsing the package.” So it seems to be corrupted. Besides of that, yes, please publish your meta file.
@zillode : Any progress?
I’m using chrome-shell.apk from the builds here: http://chromium.woolyss.com/
It’s not as good as Chrome, but it’s usable.
Also looks good to me:
Looks like enough of Chromium is now open source. Could we get an f-droid build?
I just read on Slashdot that Chrome for Android is now fully open source except for 3rd party proprietary parts.
Any chance it will now end up in F-droid repository?
I’m kind of curious what the difference between the “open-source chrome” and “chromium” is…
‘Chromium’ at the moment is only the desktop version. clang1 is talking about the Android browser which might get called ‘Chromium something Android’ in the future.
It might end up in F-Droid, but I’m expecting the inevitable ‘Requires Google Play Services’
merging with https://f-droid.org/forums/topic/chromium/
Install Google Play Services
This is necessary before gclient runhooks:
~/chromium$ src/third_party/android_tools/sdk/tools/android update sdk –no-ui –filter 57
… so i don’t think we can build it. Is there a way to strip play-services?
I just installed “ChromePublic.apk” from http://chromium.woolyss.com/ and it looks and feels just like Chrome but has the Chromium logo and installs as “Chromium”
Yes and it depends on play services. I did a small assessment of the code base and it looks like the play servers are really deeply entangled.
I disabled play services and it seemed to still run fine.
we are talking about build-time depencies. If you happen to have a build recipe that strips them, please provide a MR.
Sorry, does this mean the resulting binary is not FOSS? Is it even freely redistributable?
